ABOUT THE PROJECT

Kakoa Chocolate approached me in 2007 when it was still starting up to design their logo, website, and packaging. Since then, the company has been sold and has flourished into a second location. My designs have withstood to be incorporated into their store designs.

The design of their logo centers around the company’s variation on the spelling of cocoa. They also wanted an organic feel since they only use organic products from local farmers. After designing the logo, the rest of the design really coalesced. Early versions of the logo incorporated the swirling tree branch shape before I settled on the more realistic branch, so I was eager to incorporate that shape elsewhere. The swirling shape that I used on the packaging really helps unite the branch image with the sensuous swirls of chocolate.
